   Hakodate:

kaisen-donburi (Sea food topping rice) in Fish Morning-Market

There is 500yen Sea food  topping riceKaisen-donburi” (set menu) in the restaurant at the the Fish morning- market beside Hakodate JR train station, Unbelievable price!

It was not the season for Ooma-maguro( famous tunafish in the area), it was pitty…but in a way luckey for me… …it seems I can not win the temptation ,though …so, Why not?  try a little bit…really only little bit ….

Finally I made progress toward to ASAKO HOUSE

It was my dream to visit ASAKO HOUSE where it locates in the deep north end of Honsyu….it is in the place called Ooma in the shimokita peninsula at Aoyama-prefecture.

Why ASAKO HOUSE to visit?  It will be a long explanation, but I will try.

ASAKO HOUSE is located in the middle of the construction site of the Ooma Nuclear Power station for DENGEN  KAIHATSU ( Electric Power Development Co.,Ltd= J power

J power co. is a similar company like Tokyo denryoku(TEPCO) who is a distribution company for the electricity.

However this( J power )is the biggest company for the hydroelectric power  and the Thermal power stations in Japan, and they are new comer to the nuclear power station business.

ASAKO HOUSE is stood in 1 hectare of the private owned land and the planning site for the Nuclear reactor is only 250 meters away from it.
 Can you imagine that!?

To protect the sea of Ooma, Mrs. Asako Kumagai did not sell her land and she fought alone until the end.

Mrs. Kumagai was passed away few years ago, but now her daughter, Atsuko ogasawara has been continue to carry on her mother’s will.

She is asking everybody to send her a post card, to come to see her.
That will be a great aid for her.

Yes, everybody, we have to give her the supports, otherwise there will be the first operation of 100% fuel MOX (uranium and plutonium mixture) in the world there…

Near from there, there is Rokkasyo-mura where packed with nuclear waste, if anything happen… even little bit…What we can do?

That’s why. I decided Go there. Going there, I took train from Tokyo station to Hakodate in Hokkaido and then I took a ferry to Ooma.

I took ‘HAYABUSA’ (name of the train) of the touhoku-shinkansen which was only started on the 16th March…

It was spanking new.. it was so comfortable….So I fell a sleep…

I really wanted to see outside’s scenary when the train pass around Fukushima area, but I did fell a sleep! the both way…!?

The advertisement for the Cherry blossom in the Miharu-cho…it might be beautiful…however it is still high radiation there, going there with kids…Is that really ok? I wonder…

Then I changed over to  “Express-SUPER HAKUCYO”(name of a train)

 which go though             seikan-tonnel(undersea tonnel)

and arrived at Hakodate at 18:00.  I decided to stay overnight here.

From the Hokodate Station Hotel where I stayed, I found the (fish) morning market just cross the road.

HAKODATE  to  OOMA

I took a bus from Hakodate station to the ferry terminal,
Arrive at the windy Ooma-port, greeted with a fake model of Ooma-oomaguro.

then from the terminal to Ooma port, it takes 90mins by Daikan-maru(name of the ferry) of          Tsugaru-kaikyo ferry company.

         Tsugaru-ferry-time table.   → here

Arrive at the windy Ooma-port

greeted with a fake model of Ooma-oomaguro.

At the terminal, Atsuko was waited for me.
We called on a super market on the way and walked (takes about 30 min.) to ASAKO HOUSE.

From the main road, J Power company’s side road has started….

This is the road like a passage is continued to            ASAKO HOUSE for about 1 km.....

if I am alone walking the night time,
 I could not do that.

There was a watch cabin on the way, if my eyes meets the watchman’s eyes…I will be very afraid… so I did not take any photos there.

Atsuko said that she try to greet to the watchman when she pass there.

Since 3.11, the construction work had been stoped…however it has started again by the permission of the government….

there is a mound of the soil which was take out from the site like a mountain,

covered with a plastic sheet to prevend any land slides

 p.s.  Most recent news!

There was a big Magu Rock Concert for “the against Ooma nuclear staton”
was held on the 15/16 of June.

Finally we had arrived at ASAKO HOUSE.

I was told that overnight stay was welcome….
So I decided to stay!  If you plan to stay there, you no need to bring sleeping bags, there are some Futons for 5-6 people.

So please try to come here! If there somebody can come by car, please try to bring some heavy staff, like bottled drinks etc.

In her living room, there is a wood burning stove.
There are some pile of firewood in the garden.

For the next visit, “I will make more firewood by chainsew! “ So her postman said.

This stove was donated by a great supporter, a stove shop owner last year.
For this, she said she could have very confortable winter last year.
 She looks happy enough!

1 heactare, her big enough garden, there is a small stream, Fuki-no-to(a plant for the early spring) and various kind of plants are growing thereHere the wonderful nature is still left.   To destroy all these, the contaminated waste water will run and you will lose the goodness of the sea and the nature….

  There is no power line

   but there are wind mill

  for the private electric generator

and solar panels in this log house.

  <Welcome to ASAKO HOUSE ! >

<My mother could not understand difficult things, like radiations etc., but she did understand that:if the nuclear power station will operate, the temperature of the sea will rise and fish could not live, so that the fishing business can not be continued… so she guessed.>

Atsuko Ogasawara, for stopping the use of the nuclear power energy, she defend her mother’s house.
Her postman has appeared …a parcel has arrived.
What is in it?

<<It was some bulbs of yellow daffodils. >>

One of the ASAKO HOUSE PROJECT, PROJECT FOR COVERING  WITH YELLOW FLOWERS EVERY WHERE!

The sender of the daffodils’ bulbs arrived after the arrival of her parcel.
with her sleeping bag.

She is an citizen activist who is supporting the court case for
<The children of the Plaintiffs of Fukushima Collective Evacuation Trial >
 from SENDAI (80km from Fukushima)

She sent her bulbs from her garden in Sendai and she brought a helper with her. Another supporter, a citizen activist for the environment issue, from near Rokkasyo-mura.

In that case, I will do the same, I joined planning their bulbs.

Planting beside the metal fences of the J Power in Asako House side….soon it will be filled with yellow flowers everywhere…
I am looking forward to see that!

During night time, , because she uses the private electric generator, you try to use electricity little as possible. While you talk various things together, we had evening meal; baked vegetables with stove fire and the kamaboko (fish cake) from Sendai which the daffodils’s person had brought with her.
I had an enjoyable experience with very little electricity.

Atsuko’s home made breakfast.

Atsuko gets up earlier than her guests and prepares her breakfast on the stove, shredded cabbage salad, kakiage(a type of vegetable tempra) with Sanuki Udon.  Delicious!  She is a good cook!  The colour of the food is not good in my photos….. Sorry!

Same as the evening meals, all the meal will be prepared with Atsuko’s staff and the staff which her guests bring with them, you might except a kind  of camping style…..So do not forget about that!

After our breakfast, around 7:30 everybody walked to the nearest bus stop (which took 20 min. ) and they  send me off. I took a bus for shimokita station  (about 2hours and bus fare was 2000 yen.)

JR shimokita station where locates in the  northernmost tip of Japan.

On the way back, I left Shimokita station at 10:10 and

changed at Hachinohe station

and arrived at Tokyo at 15:03!

Everybody list---en!

I asked  Atsuko to explain her project called

 ASAKO HOUSE DEVELOPMENT PROJECT.

To make an experience-land for children !

*I would like the children visit here and  learn that you can live happily without electricity.

*For that, I want to plant some vegetables, raise animals. Looking after those things, you will learn the enjoyment of the self-sustenance.

She started to raise few chicks (ducks) few days ago.  There is 2 cats who are showing some interest, she might need a good education for those 2 cats.

Atsuko is recuiting her staff who can support her for this project.

There is no tab water there.
She want to use her well again ( at the moment they cook and make tea with bottled water)

She would like to have somebody who has knowledge of well water system.

Also she looking for the people who can do carpentry work, transport person, and who likes gardening etc.
there is a lot of way of helping her and her project.

*People come and go, to help her, or just visiting.
